"Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment.
Full effort is full victory." - Mahatma Ghandi

Lord Zander
Recognized by his peers as “The Lion Dog,” Lord Zander is renown as one of the preeminent Shih Tzus on every California court – not to mention lane, trail, loop, blvd, and cul de sac.
Born in San Diego in May 2024, Lord Zander joined the Translation by Design team just out of Paw School, where he earned a reputation for his work as editor on the school’s beagle review where he chewed over everything in the paper. Joining TBD Inc. at just two and half months old, his tenacity and irresistible cuteness led him to be named the youngest Chief Beagle Officer in corporate history. He says he loves sinking his teeth into juicy matters and was quoted, “The larger the steaks the better!”
His other duties include conducting audits of treat supply chains to ensure equal distribution between himself and his sister, Lady Zinnia. He also leads internal investigations of jacket pockets for treats and working with outside beagle counsel to conduct compliance spot-checks of the nearby fire hydrants, sidewalks, trails, beaches, and grassy areas.
When he’s not digging into things at the office, he runs volunteer beagle-aid clinics at local animal shelters advising dogs of their canine rights. He is a tireless advocate for equal treats under the law for all canines.
Zander, whose name is of Greek origin roughly translating to “defender,” seems to have been born for this role. In fact, beagle scholars agree that no Shih Tzu was better prepared to vigorously defend Translation by Design’s office bird feeder from hostile takeovers by private equity squirrels.
Larger than life, with the heart of a lion, Zander imbues every day with personality and warmth at least 100x his size.
