One Day On Earth-Documenting the World's Story

ONE DAY ON EARTH creates a picture of humanity by recording a 24-hour period throughout every country in the world.

When the phone rang at 5:00 on Friday night and a guy named Daniel said he needed the text of a Swazi marriage video translated into English by Monday morning, my first thought was no way. There were other urgent projects that I still had to finalize! Swazi! Who speaks that language? This is going to be an expensive project because it was a rare language, Friday night, a video, and RUSH!

Of course, Daniel was shocked by the quote and gave me a call to try to get a better rate. He’s telling me he’s working in his basement on this documentary and just has to have the translation of the Swazi marriage ceremony included. He’s under deadline and has a limited budget! We are a completely self-financed project with partnerships with the UN Development Program, including The International Red Cross, 350.org, Water.org, and WWF among the most well known.

I look out my window and there’s a hummingbird flittering among the flowers and the monarchs. The stars are glittering, it’s a week before Christmas and I tell Daniel, " I’m going to give you direct contact with the translator; his rates will fit into your budget. Good luck and remember Translation by Design when translation services arise. Have a Happy Holiday." Check them out: documenting the world’s stories: Daniel Lichtblau, Producer One Day On Earth.
